Have you ever seen this red Access Denied border but with an Approved Accompanying Adult banner at the top?
Here is better view of the banner:
- This banner is signifying that this person is allowed access to the YMCA only if they are with a HIPAA YMCA member aged 0-11.
- Youth cannot be alone in the facility until they are 12 years old which means those HIPAA YMCA members under 12 need an adult who will accompany them at the YMCA.
Why do Accompanied Adults Need to Scan-in when they are Access Denied?
- Accompanied Adults must scan-in everytime they use the YMCA so that we know who is in our building at all times. Additionally, scan-ins are ran against the Sex Offender Registry list so by scanning-in we're keeping our members safe since we'll be notified of any Sex Offenders.
- Every time the Accompanied Adult scans-in they will show up Access Denied because they are not a YMCA member. However, the banner at the top is what allows them access.
What can Accompanied Adults do at the Y?:
- Sit or stand in the YMCA while not using equipment or participating.
- For example they can sit in the lobby while their youth HIPAA YMCA member aged 0-11 uses Kids Club or attends a youth activity.
