What is Early Learning Readiness (ELR)
Early Learning Readiness (ELR) is a relationship and play based program for informal caregivers caring for young children ages 0-5. The program provides caregivers and children with experiences and knowledge necessary to ensure children arrive at the steps of kindergarten ready to learn. Caregivers will also learn how to encourage skill building at home.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Children ages 0-5 years old & their adult caregivers. Caregivers can be anybody of legal age-parent, aunt or uncle, older brother or sister, grandparent, neighbor, or even nanny.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Meet twice a week
- Your child can play with other children
- Classes are offered in English, and some of our instructors do speak Spanish, but the class is not in Spanish completely.
- Discover how to help your child learn and be ready for school
- Meet other caregivers of young children
- Access resources that will help you and your family
- Developing fine motor skills
- Infant development
- Science, math and literacy
- Physical activity, health and nutrition
WHAT IS THE COST
This program is provided at no charge; a membership is not required.
LOCATIONS
We offer the program at several locations such as the East Valley YMCA, Morgan Hill Library, Mt. Pleasant Elementary Marlatt Center, and the Gilroy Library. Times and days may vary.
